WISCOMP is established to Promote Women’s Leadership in Peace and Security

1999WISCOMP began its work in 1999 with a first-of-its-kind public dialogue in India on the Role of Women Journalists in Reporting Conflict through a Peace Lens, culminating in the publication of a path-breaking resource on the relationship between gender, conflict reportage, and peacebuilding in South Asia. It established itself as a pioneering research, training, and praxis organization promoting women’s leadership in peace processes well before the international discourse leading up to Resolution 1325 in October 2000 found articulation in UN circles.
