As a part of the 23rd Annual Gurukul Programme which was conducted by the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of HH The Dalai Lama, Manjrika Sewak, Senior Fellow, WISCOMP conducted a two-day workshop on Universal Ethics in June 2017 in Dharamsala. She used elicitive methodologies, such as group discussions and film screenings, among others to initiate a conversation around human values of compassion, empathy, kindness, patience, tolerance and forgiveness. The participants were young college students from across the country and with different professional backgrounds, such was fine arts, law, architecture.
The workshop drew on the Dalai Lama’s vision of universal ethics to cultivate compassion and build empathy between people of different religions, nationalities and races. The discussions were premised on those human values and practices which, based on scientific research and empirical observations, have proved to be beneficial to the physical and psychological well-being of individuals.
