A workshop titled Pedagogies for Peace organized by WISCOMP was a facilitative exercise bringing together about 33 educators from Kashmir and Delhi to co-engage and deliberate on personal and collective worldview transformation. The program was formulated on the model of Templates for Peace: Multiculturalism and Non-Violence, a WISCOMP publication which is a compilation of material from various contexts from across the world.
The workshop sessions included Active Listening and Non Violent Communication, Understanding Conflict, Implementing Peace Education, Heritage Education, and Understanding Gender. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s, Dalai Lama Centre for Ethics and Transformative Values on the third day of partnered in a “Transformative Teachers” exchange. A particularly affected participant (amongst 33 of them) later expressed the following:
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude towards the WISCOMP team for providing me such an opportunity to learn from experts of different fields. It was a great workshop and has transformed me well. I am a better person now. I really liked the session on active listening, gender issues, conflict and peace, heritage education.”
