GENDER AND MULTITRACK DIPLOMACY

The WISCOMP Diplomacy Initiative explores the changing contours and vocabulary of international diplomacy with a focus on multi-track peacebuilding. It seeks to facilitate substantive engagement on how women diplomats, working in different tracks, can effectively collaborate to build sustainable peace and security.

This initiative attempts to:

• Address the role of gender in multi-track diplomacy by examining the ways in which it can be mainstreamed in the theory and practice of diplomatic processes.

• Build a synergy between track-one diplomacy and perspectives from civil society tracks including nongovernmental conflict resolution, education, media, activism, business and citizens’ diplomacy.

• Stimulate dialogue, improve networks and build partnerships among diverse actors in ways that foreground gender and strengthen diplomacy initiatives.

As part of this Initiative, WISCOMP organizes periodic dialogues among women diplomats and parliamentarians and provides briefings on a range of issues such as gender and terrorism, media and peacebuilding, non- traditional security and public diplomacy.

A not-for-profit, non-sectarian, non-denominational organization, the Foundation promotes universal responsibility in a manner that celebrates a diversity of beleifs and practices, and that contributes to a global ethic of nonviolence, coexistence and gender equity. The work of the Foundation is global in its reach and transcends nationalist political agendas.
