In collaboration with the India International Centre, WISCOMP organised the book launch and discussion of Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar’s Niravadhi Bhuvaneshwar. The book is a collection of her essays based on extensive research spanning over two decades on Bhuvaneshwar Prasad’s literary works. Bhuvaneshwar Prasad, the First Absurdist Playwright of Modern Hindi Literature, challenged the mainstream representation of women in Hindi literature. His ‘progressive’ writings on familial relations, women’s agency and desire are now regarded as the earliest clarion call for Feminism in Hindi Literature. An eminent panel of speakers including Ms. Mrinal Pande, Prof. Pavan Mathur, Mr M Jamshed, Ms. Jasleen Vohra shared their insights on the book and Bhuvaneshwar Prasad’s literary significance.
