The first event in the series of WISCOMP Dialogues: Conversations on Mediation, ‘Mediation & Doing Things Differently: Converting Challenges into Opportunities’ featured a plenary talk followed by discussion.
Neha Sanghrajka, Senior Conflict Sensitivity Advisor with the United Nations and Fellow and Senior Advisor at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) will speak on her experiences as a mediator/ negotiator in Mozambique leading to the Maputo Accord of 2019 and her role in the peace process in Kenya during the electoral crisis of 2007.
This lecture was followed by a discussion with eminent speakers auch as Ruchita Beri, Former Senior Research Associate, IDSA, Rita Manchanda, Independent Consultant on Gender, Peace and Security, Dr. Sumona DasGupata, Senior Research Consultant WISCOMP and Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath, Director WISCOMP.
Envisioned as a series of curated public lectures, roundtables, panel discussions, interactive dialogues, film discussions and performances, WISCOMP Dialogues: Conversations on Mediation attempt to demystify the theory and practice of mediation as applied to the arena of peace building. These dialogues will highlight several innovative mediation formats and practices used across the world demonstrating the efficacy and relevance of mediations in situations of violence.
This series attempts to bring together established practitioners across the world to share insights and innovations in the field of peace mediation and the critical importance of integrating gender into all such initiatives.
