WISCOMP facilitated a two-day workshop on Strengthening the IC for Zero Tolerance Campus: Strategies for Prevention, Support and Redressal at Government College for Women, M.A. Road Srinagar in August 2025. The workshop witnessed spirited engagement and rich discussion on issues of gender justice in higher education institutions of Kashmir, with an emphasis on the role of the Internal Committee under the POSH Act 2013. A dynamic group of educators from 24 different Government Degree colleges and higher senior secondary schools across the ten districts of the Valley participated in the workshop, along with young Gender Champions. As IC convenors in their respective institutes, the participants engaged in role plays and discussed myriad issues including free and informed consent; the wide spectrum of sexual harassment; unconscious bias; power dynamics in relationships; moving from victimhood to agency; lacunae in the law and conundrums; procedure and timelines for inquiry, reporting and documentation; among several others. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Mohammad Mobin, Vice Chancellor of the Cluster University of Srinagar who emphasized the IC as more than a redressal body and compliance mechanism – serving the transformative purpose of facilitating cultures of safety, inclusion, and dignity on campuses. He was joined by Prof. Nazir Ahmad Simnani, Deanof Academic Affairs at the Cluster University; Prof. Yasmeen Farooq, Principal of Government College for Women, M.A. Road Srinagar; and Prof. Latika Vashist, Associate Professor at Ambedkar University Delhi.
