As a pioneer in South Asia working on UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, innovative and non-traditional formulations of security that move beyond conventional notions of ‘national security’ are central to WISCOMP’s research agenda. Promoting multi-disciplinary research in the fields of peacebuilding and security studies through a gender lens is pivotal to this work. WISCOMP also actively engages with women leaders as it recognizes the unique perspectives of women in international relations and the role that multi-track diplomacy and public diplomacy can play in conflict prevention and transformation.
WISCOMP conducts and facilitates research on the expanding contours of security— mapping the intersections between state security, environmental security, livelihoods and access to food, health security, personal safety, belief and community security, using a gender lens. It disseminates its work through publications, symposia, regional conferences and roundtables.
