WISCOMP aims at the transformation of gender relations – within the home, at the workplace, the community and in political processes. It foregrounds the rights of women and sexual minorities to safety and an end to Gender-based Violence (GBV). Active participation of men in these processes is facilitated and encouraged.
Activities are designed in consultation with universities, schools and local communities in rural and urban areas with progressive goals
- Immediate term: Increase awareness on the nature and consequences of gender discrimination through capacity building and public advocacy
- Intermediate term: Build leadership capacities among women’s groups
- Long term: Transform mindsets that underlie GBV by interrogating notions of masculinity and gender power relations
